7.2.3 KCYD Voting Members (Derek Richards)

Summary/Argument

This amendment would change the current proposal of restructuring the voting members for King County Young Democrats to remain at three, the Chair (or any alternates as defined in proposed Section 7.2.56) and two elected KCDCC Reps of different genders.

Where as: It is in the interest of the King County Democrat Central Committee and King County Young Democrats to encourage the vote young people have at the decision making table in every level of the Party.

Where as: I believe any young person who is willing to participate at KCDCC in Renton on a Tuesday night is not something we should turn away.

Where as: The area KCYD comprises is the entire County and not just one legislative district, I believe it is both fair and important for King County Young Democrats to keep their number of voting members at three instead of two. I propose that section 7.2.3 of the proposed bylaws to read as follows:

“The Chair of the King County Young Democrats and two representatives elected by the King County Young Democrats shall be voting members of the Executive Board. The elected representatives shall be of different genders.”
