About the KCDCC endorsement process
Thank you for your interest in an endorsement from the Martin Luther King County Democratic Central Committee (KCDCC). To receive an endorsement, you must complete a questionnaire. The KCDCC questionnaire is also required by most of the 17 Democratic Legislative District (LD) organizations that overlap King County.
About the questionnaire: You can preview the 2026 questions for all candidate questionnaires here. Endorsement applications will be accepted beginning February 16, 2026 across the following categories:
- Congressional — U.S. House of Representatives
- State Legislature — Washington House of Representatives, Washington Senate
- County — Assessor, Director of Elections, Prosecuting Attorney, King County Council
- Seattle — City Council District 5
- Judicial races — Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, Superior Court, District Court, Seattle Municipal Court
The introductory questions are related to contact information and are the same for all candidates. Once you select the type of race and jurisdiction you are running in, you will then be asked to answer several general and position-specific questions. Note that long-form text responses are limited to 1200 characters. You must affirm that you identify as a Democrat to be eligible for endorsement (except for judicial races.) Prior affiliation with other parties does not disqualify you for endorsement by KCDCC.
You may save your questionnaire progress at any time by clicking the “Save and Continue Later” button at the bottom of each questionnaire page. This will take you to a page that contains a magic link for your partially-finished questionnaire, which is valid for 30 days. Please save this link to access your questionnaire later! We also highly recommend that you enter an email address to have the link sent to you, for your records.
Completed questionnaires must be submitted via our website.
You must submit your questionnaire directly to us, via our website, to be considered for a KCDCC endorsement. Questionnaires forwarded from a local LD organization, King County Young Democrats, or a Democratic club will not be accepted. You can preview the 2026 questions here. It might be useful for drafting answers. Note your submitted responses are limited to 1,200 characters for long-form questions. However, we can only accept completed questionnaires through the website.
Once you have completed your questionnaire, you will receive an emailed copy of your questionnaire submission. All submitted questionnaires are checked for completion and then stored in a private but shared drive that all LDs and LD endorsements teams have access to. While some LDs may ask for you to provide your own PDF of your responses to our questionnaire, each LD will have access to all questionnaires within 72 hours of their completion.
If your race intersects with more than one legislative district, you may be eligible for an endorsement interview by King County Democrats. For positions appearing in the November general elections, we begin interviewing as early as April, so get your questionnaire in as soon as possible. If your race’s jurisdiction is entirely contained within one legislative district, contact the LD for their endorsement process.
