June 2026 Newsletter: Take Pride

The next several months are likely leading to a pivot point for this country, and with Washington’s filing week over, every name that will appear on a ballot in our state has been set. With the Primary Election looming, we’d like to present our list of endorsements for this election year.

These endorsements are almost certainly the most significant thing our organization does. They’re the result of dozens upon dozens of interviews spanning hundreds of hours–with hundreds more hours of discussion and crafting documents and so on–all of which is time we volunteer to see this process done right. We want you to know who we think is worthy of your vote, and we want you to know we put work into our choices. They’re vetted, they’re shared among our group, they’re debated and voted on. And now we present them to you.
We hope you’ll take our endorsements to heart as the earnest attempt at voting advice they are.
Among the races we’ve weighed in on, there are two we believe will need prioritization:
  • Five (FIVE!) of Washington’s Supreme Court Justices are up for election this year. The WA Supreme Court is our state’s final backstop against actions taken by the Republican administration. Help ensure that we can continue to support our communities in a way we—the people of Washington state—believe is right and fair.
  • In the 12th Legislative District, Democrat Stacey Willoughby is facing an uphill climb against a well-funded Republican “anti-woke” opponent. This seat is ready to flip, but we need your help to get the word out.
This month is Pride, and we’d like all to join us in standing for our communities, ideally sporting one of our fantastic lavender shirts. This is a momentous year: Pride will collide with the World Cup. This is a tremendous opportunity to show those from more…let’s call them “repressive countries,” our values and the strength of our communities. Supplies are running out, so get your shirt here now!

Speaking of the World Cup, here are two excellent opportunities to help Seattle show its best side:
  • Volunteers are needed for the World Cup game days to welcome people to Seattle and distribute community info. These are two-hour shifts at the six busiest light rail stations. Sign up here!
  • Training sessions to become a Constitutional Observer are being put together by the ACLU-WA and WAISN. These are a one-hour classes to prepare people to ensure people’s rights during the World Cup. Sign up here!
This is the time to stand for our communities, to push back against the tide and exclaim your values. Your neighbors need you. And you need to get your neighbors into the fight, too.
There’s lots going on. Here are (quite) a few other highlights!

If there ever was a year to put the work in, this is it.
