Sept 2025: Before the Storm

With the Primary election over and the General still a few months off, now is a good time to catch our breath and take stock of where things stand.

The national scene continues to be a circus, but even amidst the chaos, it’s easy to find good news. Again and againDemocrats have been winning racesoutperforming their margins even in the deepest red districts. Elsewhere, the courts continue to rule against the national administration on almost every issue, from tariffs to sending the military onto our streets to higher education. Make no mistake: there is significant damage being done, and the threat of political violence cannot be dismissed. But more people are rising up every day. There is much reason for hope amidst the caution. Every action, no matter how small, has value.

We’re seeing victories locally as well. Of the 51 primary races in which we endorsed a candidate, our endorsed candidates won 39 of them (a 76.47% success rate). These wins couldn’t happen without your help and donations. We’re not done yet, though. We need to build on that momentum to carry us through the General Election in November, and so today, and through the next few months, we want you to plan and engage.

Will you walk a precinct? Attend a canvassing event? Phone bank or text bank? Or even just talk to your neighbors and make sure they vote? Take a look at our calendar and make the decision to get in the fight.

At King County Democrats, we mean it when we say we want to contest every race. We’ve worked all year vetting and supporting and campaigning. Now we need you for the final push.

  • While we’ve got you:
    • We’re looking for non-English speakers to help us with our text banking efforts from now through the election. If you are bilingual—especially if you are fluent in Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Russian, or Somali—we’d like to put you to work. Send us an email at [email protected]!
    • As we said earlier, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel our September 14th luncheon . While we were looking forward to gathering together, this allows us to put all our focus and resources where they’re needed most: preparing for victory in the General Election.

We’re ready. Are you?

Beth Bazley
Chair, King County Democrats

P.S. If you are in a financial position to be generous, please consider donating to King County Democrats. We are an all-volunteer organization, and it’s thanks to your donations that our work is possible.
