Aug 2025: Emergency Protest This Sunday In Tacoma

It pains me to bring you this news…

Recently, US Army veteran Muhammad Zahid Chaudhry was detained during an immigration interview by ICE. He is now being held in Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma (aka the Northwest ICE Processing Center).

Zahid has lived in the United States for 25 years. The last time he was seen by his family was as he was entering his interview on Thursday, August 21st, 2025. Hours after he went in for his interview, his wife Melissa Chaudhry—PCO for the 33rd in SeaTac and former WA congressional candidate—was informed she would receive a call from the detention facility.

Enough is more than enough and has been for a long time. This appalling turn is yet another assault on our communities, another insult to our troops, and another slap in the face of American values and the law.

There will be an emergency protest at the Northwest Detention Center this Sunday at 2pm, to demand the release of Zahid Chaudhry. I will be speaking there, and I want to see you too. You can find more details here.

This must end.
