- Resolution to Censure Senator Rodney Tom
Senate Democratic Caucus Leader Ed Murray, speaker at our December 9th LAC meeting, suggested that a Democratic Party resolution to censure Senator Tom’s behavior would be welcome. Several Legislative Districts have passed a version of this resolution, including the 43rd and 37th, 32nd and the 5th LD. The 48th did not include the word censure, but withdrew their endorsement.
The censure resolution will come before the KCDCC meeting Tuesday, Jan. 22nd and will be considered by State Central Committee February 1-2 because it is germane to this legislative session. The effect of the resolution would be to deny Sen. Tom, and potentially Sen. Sheldon, funds, volunteers and the valuable voter database of the Democratic Party.
- Who is your LAC Rep and what do they do?
Each Legislative District is invited to elect or appoint two LAC Representatives. The duties of the LAC Rep is to attend monthly meetings with legislators on the 3rd Sunday afternoon of the month, to announce the LAC meetings at their LD meeting as part of committee reports, and to become an activist.
As LAC rep, you will receive updates encouraging actions (emails, usually) supporting particular priority bills at particular points in their legislative process. Both our Democratic and Republican legislators need and can be influenced by the sincere, knowledgeable and timely expression of concerns by their constituents-you!
Currently the King County Democrats Legislative Action Committee (LAC) chair position is co-chaired by Robert Rosenberger and Joanne Cisneros.
The LAC is currently in the process of setting our legislative agenda for 2013 (draft available here; our 2012 agenda is also available).
The LAC meets monthly with legislators and sends out periodic Legislative Action newsletters throughout the Legislative session. Please join our mailing list by checking legislative action on our volunteer sign up form. Thanks
You can contact your Legislators and check for the daily status on specific bills at www.leg.wa.gov.
