Jan. 2026 Newsletter: A Turning Tide
Let’s be crystal clear: what’s happening right now is tyrannical, dystopian bullshit. Shame on anyone enabling or supporting this.
How does this end? What awaits our nation, our state, and our communities on the other side of the chaos of the last decade—or even of the last week? I believe a tide is turning, one outrage at a time. I see more people waking up and understanding how fragile our rights and our laws really are, and though it moves with the infuriating lethargy of history happening in real time, people are pushing back. There is tangible hope out there, though it is mixed with incredible anger. But I’ve found anger is just another kind of energy to be focused. Nothing can change what’s happened, but I believe all that anger, that energy, can help us all do the real work of organizing resistance, of building a better tomorrow, and of helping us get through this madness together.
Now, let’s talk about what that turning tide ultimately looks like. I hope it’s like what’s happening here in King County. In the 2025 General Election, candidates whom King County Democrats endorsed won 78% of their races. More impressively, 86% of school board races—our main focus last year—were won by candidates we endorsed.
This is a direct result of your donations. This means you are a part of this, and we can’t possibly thank you enough for your part. We try to spend every dollar wisely—we’re just volunteers who want to build a kinder future.
What’s next for us? These victories tell us our candidate recruitment and vetting processes work and that voters—you—see the quality in who we choose to put forth. But for these wins to continue we need more people to step up. We need you, YOU, to make the leap and run for office. It doesn’t matter how much experience you have; we need leaders at every level. King County Democrats has systems to help. We can be with you every step of the way, from paperwork to fundraising to campaigning. Let’s get you a seat at the table for us all.
