Extract from April Endorsements Committee Report

Finally, the Endorsements Committee would like to make one technical amendment to the Endorsement Rules, in order to match the Rules with the Bylaws. Specifically, Rule A(2) calls for ten days' notice of endorsements, but the bylaws require candidates submit their questionnaires seven days before being considered for endorsement. Accordingly, the Committee would like to change A(2) to be seven days, as well, in order to comport with the Bylaws.

Michael Maddux, Endorsements Committee Chair.

Further Editorial Comment

The changes to the second sentence are to tighten the language and clarify that the purpose of this rule is purely to establish a notice requirement for endorsements. Any questions/assumptions concerning whether and what sort of agenda document might be sent, to whom, and how is beyond the scope of the endorsement rules and already handled elsewhere (see Bylaws 7.3 and Roberts [RONR 10th Ed. §41]).

Roger Crew, 3rd Vice-Chair.
